The latest ad campaign from Camosun College, in Victoria BC, focuses on minimalist design, with bold colours and simple, irreverent copy -- like "we have the right seat for you. No matter what size your bum," or "yes, a college credential is just a piece of paper. And so is money." David Sovka, Associate Director of College & Community Relations, explains that Camosun has "refrained from using iconic buildings and/or super-happy, young multicultural students having a great time in front of iconic buildings."  The ads are running across a range of visual media: print ads, outdoor advertising (buses, shelters, city posters), television, online, pre-movie commercials, etc. It also appears on radio, with tongue-in-cheek copy that articulates Camosun's value proposition (lower tuition, smaller classes, great instructors) along with the campaign tag line. The call to action is always a visit to Camosun's recently-redesigned website, at http://www.camosun.ca/.

Surprisingly minimalist,

Surprisingly minimalist, with vivid colour. I'm surprised they used a reverse logo, instead of the striking neon green corporate colour that seems to me like a core part of the brand.

Love it! I am so sick of

Love it!

I am so sick of seeing multicultural faces or buildings or multicultural faces in front of buildings. Whether one likes it or not, it's at least a fresh look at advertising. And it probably jibes better with our youth than a bunch of grinning peers.

Once I get over the jarring

Once I get over the jarring punctuation issues, I like it!
