With the echo boomers currently on their way through the post-secondary system, it is predicted that North American colleges and universities will see a drop in enrolment within the next 5 years (Link to David Foote article). With the traditional pool of high school graduates shrinking, schools are looking to mature, low-income and minority students to help fill their classrooms. Less than 50% of students from families with income below $25,000 participate in post-secondary education (Link to CMSF February news release).
