Competitor Analysis
This study involves a comprehensive competitor analysis of the institution and top five (5) competitors. Competitors will be identified based on application overlap and may include four-year colleges/universities, two-year colleges, and for-profit and nonprofit schools. The competitor analysis will include a thorough review of the institution’s Web sites (academic programs, extracurricular and co-curricular activities, pricing, marketing and admissions programs, etc.) existing research (image, marketing, pricing, academic programs, and market data, etc.), and available secondary data.
Academica will evaluate the institution’s position compared to competitors and opportunities by identifying for each:
- Overall strengths and weaknesses
- Current and potential market niches
- Positioning of each institution
- Selling proposition and opportunities to develop a unique proposition
- Image
- Academic program offerings and development opportunities (e.g., program type, level, online, blended, niche, and degree completion, etc.)
- Co-curricular, extracurricular, and athletic offerings
- Pricing analysis (e.g., stated price, discount rates, percent need met, scholarships, financial aid budgets, etc.)
- Marketing messages and delivery strategies
- Recruitment programs and strategies
- Inquiry response (e.g., time, content, sequence, timing, etc.)
- Enrolment trends by program, student type, and level
